Class Discussions
Module 2’s discussion questions will focus upon the content of our textbook’s Chapter 2: Section 2.0-2.4. Early and continuing participation in these ongoing online “class discussions” is expected throughout the entire duration of each Module. I strongly recommend reading and contributing to these discussions on at least three days a week, every week. This discussion forum will close at the end of Module 2, after which time no additional discussion posts may be submitted. Discussion Question A Mind-Body Problem: What exactly is the mind-body problem? What theory seems to answer the problem best, and why? Please provide particular arguments to support your view. Discussion Question B Strong Al: Is it possible for an appropriately programmed computer to have (or develop) a mind? Why or why not? Please do your best to incorporate key concepts from the text into your posts (e.g., multiple realizability, Turing Test and Chinese Room).Instructions
- First, respond to EACH of the two Module 2 Discussion Questions presented above (both questions A & B).
- Then, provide additional subsequent follow-up responses to posts submitted by others (your fellow students, and/or myself) in BOTH of the subsequent discussion threads that will begin to develop and unfold as this Module proceeds.
