It may take a near-death experience such as alcohol poisoning or a tragic car accident before someone realizes that they need help. Or perhaps it is a friend or family member who initiates treatment by making a professional aware that one of their loved ones is struggling with an addiction. With the array of treatments available, addiction professionals must be able to assist clients by assessing their needs and guiding them in the right direction. For this Assignment, review Prochaska and DiClemente’s Processes of Change.
