We take walk in appointments and scheduled appointments. We have more walk ins usually than scheduled. The type of assessments I am doing on a daily basis are Behavioral, Psychological and basic focused assessment on whatever the patient walks in for. So we do full vital signs on all patients. Just as a routine assessment. Most of my assessments are focused assessments. As a walk in patient, they say “okay we are here for ear painâ€. I sit down and ask them the when, how long, which ear, describe the pain, any fevers, etc. types of questions, then leave the room and send the provider in. Most patients are like that depending what they are here for. Behavioral and Psychological assessments we ask more comprehensive things. Suicide and depression assessments are a very big part of each of those assessments. Its super common to have teenage kids come in and be screened for it. I am extra careful when asking these questions because I know what it was like to be 17 and depressed. I see a lot of young girls who are embarrassed to be there because they are depressed and I can see that in how they are non verbally communicating. A lot of times, if I ask the parent to step out of the room, the teens will open up a little more. That is the kind of objective data you have to watch for when doing those assessments here.
